It was a new page unfolded in my lifebook as I stepped into WSO2 this September. This is my first job as a Software Engineer and thus-far it has been a really fruitful experience. In my blog I'd like to share my experiences and what I learn at WSO2 when time permits...
WSO2 is the opensource SOA company with a comprehensive stack of middleware products and a cloud platform. I would like to add some posts about these products in the future as I come to learn more about them. Currently I'm working in the Carbon Core team. Carbon is the base framework for most of the WSO2 products.
WSO2's opensource model
WSO2 follows the Apache model as the development process and it's truly opensource!!
You might wonder what I mean by TRULY opensource with respect to WSO2 and Apache? Well there are software out there, where you can view the source-code if the project owners have set the source open, but they don't count as true opensource software. A true opensource software openly discusses it's development process, improvements and even encourages people from outside to contribute to the software by giving suggestions, pointing out errors and delivering patches etc. That's exactly how WSO2 works! For a new guy to opensource community it could be a little alien, but with time the model really helps you to be up-to-date on what's going on in the company/community and learn a ton of new things. I believe that the continuous learning process is what drives opensource software and the community. it's all about learning, sharing and contributing to the community!
So that's my experience in the first few days at WSO2. Look forward to share more on what I learn and use in the coming days at WSO2.
